A short drama film about healing; a woman struggles with finding self identity and love after a toxic relationship.
About the Project
In the aftermath of a break up from a toxic relationship, Molly sits in the shower, reflecting on the highs and lows.
A few months prior, she and Sam are happy watching television. As time goes by, he begins to gaslight and dismiss her feelings and interests. She begins to enter an abusive relationship and the bad memories drown out all the good.
In the present day, her best friend Ava tries to help her move on and heal by trying to set her up on a fun blind date. Molly ponders whether there is someone out there who could love her for her true self and questions: could saying yes to this date possibly change her outlook on real love?
Working on the Project
This was a film I edited in 2022. I worked closely with writer/director Carla Aicken. With the editing, the goal was to hone in on the depths of the protagonists' emotions to really understand where her self-identity ties in with her outlook on love and partnership.
