Ghost Note (Director/Editor)
A thriller about a young woman struggling with the haunting of her surroundings and past regret, years after her friend's disappearance.
About the Project
Five years after her best friend Ashley disappears in the woods, Jessie comes back to the camping site to grieve the loss. A guitar that once belonged to her friend appears, and she is reminded of the last memory they shared together where she tells her she shouldn't pursue her music career. Jessie starts seeing Ashley's ghost and must confront the truth of her grief, and the circumstances at which she left things with Ashley before she disappeared.
Working on the Project
Ghost Note is a short psychological thriller that I'm directing and editing. My creative partner, Carla Aicken, is the writer and producer. We created the concept for this film in 2024, filmed in 2025, and are planning to release the film in 2026. It is a small budget indie film that we did as a fun experiment to expand our creativity. One aspect we were really passionate about was incorporating music into the story without being a musical.
Director's Statement
I've always felt a strong connection to music because it brings out so many emotions and memories. It can make you feel nostalgic, happy, or even be a cathartic outlet for your emotions. Within this film, our main song, "By Twilight" (Composed/Performed by Poppi Fella Pellegrino, Lyrics by Carla Aicken, Recorded/Mastered by Maxim Geoffrion), is a folk inspired, acoustic melody that reminds our protagonist, Jessie, of the memory of her best friend. It is tells the tale of what grieves her in the present day. One of the main themes of this story is how grief can trap you. It can make you feel super isolated mentally and physically. There are times in life, when you can be real hard on yourself in different circumstances. The weight of that can be so daunting to carry. With forgiveness, it can be easier to forgive another person, and a lot of times, you need to remember to forgive yourself. In other scenarios, it comes down to things out of our control. This film is a reminder that finding ways to figure out your emotions can take time, and is a completely human thing.
